Scope and Content
Documentation of his career at Notre Dame, including coursework and administrative files; of his professional life, including academic and research material and files representing his membership in organizations; personal papers including correspondence, family papers, papers from his education in high school, at Cornell University, and at Northwestern University, certificates, and diplomas; a scrapbook containing clippings about him or his family and some correspondence; medical and financial records of Dr. Walter H. Baker; and closed files of student papers, grade records, and letters of recommendation.
Background
Starting as an instructor in economic history in 1931, and continuing until 1973, Wesley C. Bender served as a teacher of marketing and business administration at the University of Notre Dame who in 1943 became a full professor and head of the department. After 1947 he also served as a member of the Academic Council of the University.
